Erath's Dubois, Harrington earn first-team all-district soccer honors

The Lady Bobcats of Erath had two players land on the District 3 Girls All-District First Team.
Brittany Dubois and Emily Harrington made the first team.
On the second team is Madyson Hebert.
Honorable mention players are Kelsey Arellano, Olivia Labit, Chloe Landry, Rilee Grace Stutes and Whisper Reyes.

Tyrese Sam of Abbeville

Abbeville beats St. Martinville

The Abbeville Wildcats helped their cause in the power point standings by beating the St. Martinville Tigers, 55-40.
Javontae Decuir scored 22 points for AHS. Tyrese Sam had 13 and Demarcus Collins scored eight.
Before the game, Abbeville was seeded No. 18 and St. Martinville was No. 13.
A win should give Abbeville power points to push them to No. 16. The top 16 play at home in the first round of the playoffs.
The Wildcats finish the regular season next week.

Kaplan gets needed win

The Kaplan Pirates stayed alive in the playoff picture by beating the Franklin Hornets, 55-40, on Friday at home.
The Pirates entered Friday’s game seeded No. 35 in the latest Class 3A LHSAA Power Rankings.
The top 32 earn a bid to the playoffs.
With the win, Kaplan could move up a notch or two in the standings.
After a slow first half (16 points scored by Kaplan), the team stepped it up in the second half.
Kaplan scored 37 points, including 24 in the fourth period.
Three Pirates finished with double digit scoring.

Former VC wide receiver adjusting to new home at Oklahoma Panhandle State

Devren Constantine could have hung up his football cleats after high school and begin a new chapter in his life. Instead, he decided to continue chasing his dream of playing football on the college level.
Today, Constantine is making his dream a reality.
The former Vermilion Catholic wide receiver, who graduated last year, signed a football scholarship to a small Division II college called Oklahoma Panhandle State, located in the town of Goodwell, Ok.
Goodwell’s population is 1,300 people while the enrollment on the four-year college is 1,700.
