Lemonade stand raises funds for Kaplan Food Bank

Students recently organized a lemonade stand, with the goal of raising funds for the Kaplan Food Bank.
Harvey LeBeouf III, a Kaplan High Beta Club Student, Ainsley Crader, a North Vermilion Middle Beta Student, and Amelia Rung, a third-grader at Indian Bayou Elementary, came up with the idea of creating a Lemonade Stand.
The sale of lemonade proceeds to benefit The Kaplan Food Bank. The LeBeouf family presented the check of $175.00 to KFB members and volunteers.

St. Paul’s helping kids get back to school

Believe it or not, the start of the new school year is less than a month away.
School supply lists will soon begin to be checked off, with backpacks ready to go.
Unfortunately, for some, that process will not come easily. That is why numerous organizations and other groups rally yearly to collect school supplies for those in need.
Among those groups are St. Paul’s Episcopal Church parishioners in Abbeville.

State 4-H University is a culmination of a 4-H member’s year of hard work and dedication. Through competing, youth demonstrate life skills in teamwork, decision making, problem solving, and resiliency. Each event offers members an opportunity for personal growth, skill mastery, and recognition for achievements.

Miss Juneteenth pageant held in Abbeville

The Vermilion Parish NAACP#6276 Miss Juneteenth pageant was held June 4, 2023, at Faith Hope Christian Fellowship chaired by Mrs. Katrina Harris.
Saying goodbye to her reign was Vermilion Parish NAACP#6276 2022 Miss Juneteenth Alex'eia Bell.
This year the pageant was open to Middle School and High School students. That created categories for Miss Junior Juneteenth and Miss Juneteenth queens.
