FRANKLIN - The North Vermilion Patriots are off to a 2-0 start in 2017.
The Patriots crushed the Franklin Hornets, 49-20, on Friday night.
Two games into the season, North Vermilion has already equaled the amount of wins it won all of last year.
One has to go back to 2009 to find the last time the Patriots began the year 2-0. It was under former head coach Stephen Lotief. His team went 3-0 in 2009.
Since 2004, North Vermilion has began the year 2-0 only four times.

A week later, North Vermilion head football coach Richard Prejean is still scratching his head about last week’s 21-20 win over Beau Chene.
After watching film on the game, he saw his team make many mistakes that he was not too happy with.
On the team’s first possession, the Patriots went backwards due to penalties.
Heading into the last Saturday, the Patriots had little practice outside because of rain.
Prejean said it showed.

KAPLAN - One would think after playing Class 5A Acadiana Rams, playing a Class 2A school next would be a cake walk.
Normally, yes, except if that Class 2A school is called the Welsh Greyhounds.
The Kaplan Pirates (0-1) have to hit the road for the second week in a row to battle the Greyhounds (0-0). Kaplan is coming off a loss from last Friday to Acadiana High, while the Greyhounds had to cancel their game against Rayne because of Hurricane Harvey.
Tonight’s game against Kaplan will be Welsh’s first game of the 2017 season.
