Kaplan Police are looking for a person in regards to a theft of equipment from a business which occurred in the City of Kaplan. Chief of Police Boyd Adams is asking for help from the citizens to identify this man. If anyone has information on his identity, please call Kaplan Police at 643-8600.
According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, one person has been arrested and booked into the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center Monday in connection to an early morning shooting that left one person dead.

Vermilion Parish has two named into State 4-H Hall of Fame

The 2016 honorees chosen for the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame were recognized April 30. Bill Richardson, LSU vice president for agriculture, fourth from the right, top row, said the 4-H program’s success can be attributed to the efforts of 4-H leaders and volunteers. KAPLAN — The City of Kaplan is mourning the loss of one of their City Councilman.
Kevin Guidry, 52, passed away Thursday afternoon, May 5, after a brief illness.
