The Abbeville Parks and Recreation Department has a new director, at least for the time being.

A large burned area remains Wednesday morning after the Maurice Fire Department put out the fire. When the fire was out, they learned there were two bodies inside. The vehicle was located on Claude Road, off La. 699.

According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, at approximately 1 am this morning Sheriff’s deputies responded to a vehicle fire on Claude Road, just south of Maurice. Sheriff Couvillon says that upon the fire being extinguished by Maurice Fire Department, it was discovered that two bodies were inside the vehicle.
