Kaplan Police are looking for a person in regards to a theft of equipment from a business which occurred in the City of Kaplan. Chief of Police Boyd Adams is asking for help from the citizens to identify this man. If anyone has information on his identity, please call Kaplan Police at 643-8600.
According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, one person has been arrested and booked into the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center Monday in connection to an early morning shooting that left one person dead.
An Abbeville mother is grateful her family was not injured after a large tree fell on her mobile home Thursday night. Savannah Broussard with her two children and a friend heard the winds picking up while watching television.

Vermilion Parish has two named into State 4-H Hall of Fame

The 2016 honorees chosen for the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame were recognized April 30. Bill Richardson, LSU vice president for agriculture, fourth from the right, top row, said the 4-H program’s success can be attributed to the efforts of 4-H leaders and volunteers. MANSURA – A dozen honorees, including Rita Marceaux and Michael Dartez of Vermilion Parish, were inducted into the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame on April 30.

KAPLAN — The City of Kaplan is mourning the loss of one of their City Councilman.
Kevin Guidry, 52, passed away Thursday afternoon, May 5, after a brief illness.

Abbeville wins State’s Cleanest City Contest
